Condition and Measurements
All our stained glass windows are original antiques and some show signs of their age. We mention flaws when applicable, and will always be glad to offer a full description over the phone and to e-mail more detailed images if required.

All measurements are to the nearest inch and include the frame. The first measurement in each case refers to the height and the second to the width. Although, of course, many windows can be used either horizontally or vertically.

In New Construction and Remodelling
All of our stained glass windows can be used in construction. It is fairly common to see complete old stained glass windows simply built in, with the frames painted the same color as the rest of the room’s trim. It is also possible to remove a stained glass panel from its frame and build it into a new window frame.

We have multiples of many of these stained glass panels in stock, so we are able to supply matching pairs, or even sets in some cases. Also, some patterns are available in different sizes and with slight variations in design.

Some of these windows can be used to provide privacy without excluding valuable daylight. They are often built into dividing partitions or used as lights above doors. They are also extremely effective with a bulb placed behind them (with a piece of frosted glass to hide the bulb and disperse the light). The range of interesting applications is practically endless.

It is remarkable how much the ‘hard edge’ of new construction, can be softened by the addition of a piece of original stained glass. We have seen many spaces transformed by the color, character and warmth of even the simplest leaded light.

As An Addition
While many people build stained glass panels into new construction or renovation, they can be simply hung inside any existing window. This is usually done by suspending the antique window from the frame of an existing window, so that the light passes through the stained glass and on into the room. They are usually hung using a couple of screw-in hooks and 2 short lengths of chain (or fishing line, which of course is practically invisible). The result is the same: the addition of color and individuality, and a softening effect on the whole room.
